Dating and building your business is not always easy. Your time is precious and a lot of responsibility falls on your shoulders. It’s up to you to pay the bills, pay your staff and keep the business growing. This often leaves room for little else. But it’s important to find balance as an entrepreneur, and that includes nurturing the personal relationships in your life.
Three months in this city and I've picked up my old staple of cooking vegan meals for the people I love. Now in 239 square feet, I can't have the epic dinner parties on my balcony that I used to. But I can still create that classic Megan's hosting environment for two!
Right now, I am sitting in the Ottawa train station waiting for my 5pm train home to Toronto. This is the final leg of nine busy days of travel all over Canada, using essentially all methods of transportation. The trip included a massive surprise, some French practice, and a whole lot of coffee. I'm exhausted, but I am oh so grateful.
First holiday in my new home, and I have none of my holiday decor here with me. Overall, this holiday season is beyond weird and out of the ordinary, but I had to do something to make my space feel festive. So this weekend I grabbed a couple girlfriends, style inspiration a la Style at Home, and a couple bottles of Unreserved Wine for a mini-wrapping-and-decorating session to mark the season!
In 24 years I hadn't missed a dinner - this includes a Christmas I had pneumonia and I should have missed the dinner. But with 4,365 KM between us, it's just not feasible to go home this year, and I know that's got to be tough on my loved ones back in BC. So I knew I had to do something special to let them all know how much they mean to me.
Before I left Vancouver I took the time to pick up a few locally-made products I had to have with me. It was a tough list to curate (especially with such little packing space!) but here are my Vancouver-made must buys!
It's that time of year again! But for me, this will be the strangest Christmas ever. I won't be going back to Vancouver for the holidays so I plan on spending Christmas night at the movies followed by wine at home. But that's not stopping me from holiday shopping and so for the third year I present the In A Sequoia Mindful Holiday Gift Guide!
Before I left Vancouver, I made sure to visit all my favourite spots to take it all in. I acted like a tourist in my own city for two days before hopping on the plane. So I thought I would share with you the places I had to see within a 48-hour time period when in #Vancity.
Before I flew off, I had intended to write a really special and loving post to my New Westminster community. But packing craziness ensued and here I am, 100 hours into the T.O. life, and the blog has been quiet. So here is the quick version!
Blink and your whole life can change.
